The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Training Institute (NDRRMTI) will be the first institute in the Philippines that will serve as a knowledge and skills center that will administer people-centered programs and measures to reduce vulnerabilities and risks to hazards as well as provide community-based training courses in disaster risk reduction and management.
Located in the northern part of New Clark City, the 8-hectare NDRRMTI will play a significant role in achieving the national government’s aim to reduce future risks and human and material losses and to strengthen resilience advocacies on emergency management, from prevention to preparedness, response, and recovery. In cooperation with the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), the comprehensive master development plan (CMDP) for the Institute completed by Palafox Associates and Palafox Architecture Group was formulated to incorporate simulation, training, and learning facilities with recreational spaces, accommodation facilities, and commercial strips.
The Institute will serve as a crucial backup and contingency location in case a calamity or disaster affects Metro Manila. The site is proximate to the National Government Administrative Center (NGAC), which will house various government agencies including the OCD. The development is currently accessible via the Capas-Botolan Road.
The NDRRM Training Institute will comprise a Training Facility, a Center for Continuing Education, a Recreation Center, and a Simulation Facility Center, which will be a combination of structures and facilities that can simulate a realistic scenario for response in the event of a disaster.
