We have entered a partnership with the Local Government of Bauang, La Union to help gear the municipality toward being a secure, progressive, and competitive gateway city network by 2025. This partnership involves updating their local development plans including their Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP), Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP), Zoning Ordinance (ZO), and Local Development Investment Program (LDIP). This is in line with achieving SULONG BAUANG 2030, which aims to make Bauang the Vineyard City of the North. A first-class municipality in La Union, Bauang is also dubbed as the Fruit Basket of the North, with tourism and agriculture as its major industries.
Commencing work on the project, on November 2 to 24, the Palafox Team visited each of Bauang’s barangays that feature several notable sites such as the Bakawan Ecotourism Site in Barangay Payocpoc Norte Este, the Proposed Socialized Housing of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. in Barangay Taberna and Barangay Bawanta, and the proposed Gateway Center in Barangay Central West, among others. The First Consultation with Bauang’s stakeholders was also conducted during the visit.
The team was assisted by EnP. Florence Rulloda (Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator), Mr. Adam Tomin (Administrative Aide), Mr. Meneleo T. Dela Cruz, Jr. (Zoning Officer I), and staff from the Municipal Planning and Development Office.
The Contract Signing Ceremony and Kick-Off Meeting with the Municipality of Bauang was held last September 6 and led by Mayor Eulogio Clarence Martin P. De Guzman III with the Sangguniang Bayan and Municipal Department heads.
